8 ways to incorporate 'fall' into your wedding design

With crisp, gorgeous temperatures and vibrant fall foliage right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to drop into autumn vibes with a selection of trends that you won’t want to miss out on when planning for a 2024 fall wedding. Saying I do to your beloved during this season provides lots of opportunities to bring the beauty of the season into your intimate celebration.

Here are 8 ways to incorporate "fall" into your wedding design:

Bold Autumn Inspired Color Palettes and Cozy Texture: Say goodbye to drab neutrals and HELLO to bold, inviting fall color! This season a pop of autumnal color is all the rage. Think out of the box with pairings like cranberry and peach, pumpkin and sage, and a bold pink with dark green. To really liven it up, try adding a metallic hue to any of your color combinations to add a bolder, attention grabbing scheme. Fabric is also making a statement this season. Rich velvets which are a longstanding classic, luxurious silk and silk mikado, elegant brocades and warm and structured faille are all in this fall season.

Seasonal Farm Grown Blooms/Greenery/Dried Flowers : As with any fall season, brides often choose to replace fresh blooms with dried flowers, but this year’s trend is to replace them with greenery. The color green radiates health and renewal and as the season changes into something new and fresh, what a beautiful way to transform your wedding arrangements with the gorgeous texture of evergreen, ferns, eucalyptus and vine.

Farm grown blooms are also the rage right now as we head into the autumn months. Dressing your tables with autumnal farm grown florals are a delightful way to bring a rustic, cozy vibe while also preserving the beauty of autumn with easy to access in season blooms.

Food Displays with Fall Dishes : Many couples are getting very creative around their food display this fall season with rich, cozy dishes to warm the bellies of their wedding guests. Think root vegetables, hearty soups, make your own charcuterie boards, roasted squash and fresh baked pies and desserts. Grazing tables are on point this season filled with meats, cheeses, fruits, jams, roasted root vegetables and nuts. Or some may opt for a dessert table piled high with mini cinnamon rolls, pumpkin cranberry muffins, mini pecan pies, pumpkin macarons, and spiced cupcakes. Your table would look gorgeous decorated with mini pumpkins, gourds, and wildflower blooms to round out the autumnal vibe. The fall season is the perfect time to bring warm, hearty and cozy to your menu and food displays.

Fall Themed Wedding Cakes : If you’d rather opt for a traditional wedding cake rather than a dessert grazing table, consider incorporating in some fall themed wedding cake ideas. Autumnal spiced cakes such as pumpkin, mexican chocolate, red velvet make a cozy, yet stunning and delicious dessert experience. Cream cheese frosting, salted caramel drizzle, maple glazed icing and deep, rich chocolate are perfect for your autumn themed cakes. Many brides may also choose to have their cake decorated with seasonal fruits like fig, apples, pears or berries as well as dried floral and greenery for a gorgeous presentation.

Fall Cocktails : Creative cocktails to match the theme of the season can bring out your creative side and please your guests. Talk to your bartender about some options if you’d like to work to create your own, or some fall themed popular cocktails to serve might be a hot toddy, appletinis, hot buttered rum, pumpkin pie martinis, cranberry mulled wine, or spiked cider. Add a pop of color and autumnal cozy to your drinks with colored rimming salts, rosemary sprigs, or a cinnamon stick.

Rustic and Outdoor Venues : Some popular venues for the fall 2023 season scream rustic, cozy and are giving me ALL THE FALL VIBES! Fall lends itself perfectly to rustic barn and farm venues which allow for a relaxed vibe with gorgeous scenery, vineyards and wineries for seasonal wine tastings with outstanding photo backdrops, historic homes and buildings for a more elegant and luxe feel and ski and mountain resorts for foliage like no other.

Wood Accents : We’ve seen it a lot over the last few wedding seasons, but wood is here to stay for the time being. Think large farmhouse tables, wooden signage, backdrops, table numbers and even photo boards. Wood centerpieces like lanterns or candle holders are also really in right now, and they often compliment the gorgeous rust, pumpkin, deep oranges and all of the greenery brides will be choosing this fall season, as well as luxe table runners made of velvet and silks.

Favors : Send your cherished guests home with a taste of fall to get them in the autumnal spirit. Mini jam or jars of honey, gourmet dark maple syrups, fall scented candles, boxed mini pies, caramel apples, DIY s’mores kits. For a more luxe affair consider a pair of cashmere gloves, a plaid scarf, gourmet high end hand creams, mini olive trees wrapped in burlap and finished with a silk bow, or a pashmina wrap.
